An exploration of cups and the everyday rituals around them.
Will on the Wheel · Ceramics and teaching
Clay gives me the joy of taking something I’ve imagined and making it real. I recognize that feeling from software design, but here I can step into a different medium and explore volume, space, form and surface with my hands.
Will on the Wheel is where I share that practice, the things I’m making and the experience of learning to create with clay.

Ceramics has a process that engages the systems thinker in me, while the material keeps inviting me to experiment. A form can begin as a thought, change as I work and carry a story through its surface.
I find the work calming and rewarding. It gives me room to think conceptually, then express an idea in something I have made. I believe we are creative beings and that we thrive when we create.
Use is part of the artistry. I’m drawn to making objects that feel considered in someone’s everyday life, whether that is a cup for a familiar ritual or a small piece with a personal story.

Teaching lets me help someone discover that same ability to imagine something and bring it into form. Alongside the skills of making, we explore how to think through an idea, notice what the material is doing and make intentional choices.
I use demonstration, guided practice and individual support to help you build confidence. You don’t need to arrive with a finished idea. Curiosity and a willingness to try are enough to begin.
I’m open to ceramic commissions, from a useful object for your daily rituals to something with a personal story behind it. Tell me what you’re imagining, and we can explore what’s possible.
